THIS EVENT IS COMPLETED
This workshop, designed by the Mesopotamia Migration Monitoring and Research Association (GÖÇ-DER), aims to highlight the traumas caused by forced migration at individual and collective levels, discuss structural obstacles in return processes, analyze integration and social adaptation problems, and develop feasible policy recommendations for local governments and civil society within this framework. The workshop brings together victims, youth, women, academics, and local administrators to create a horizontal dialogue platform, contribute to the democratic sharing of collective memory, and conduct solution-oriented discussions by addressing migration policies in their historical and contemporary dimensions. Within this framework, the social, psychological, and economic impacts of the forced migration processes in the Kurdistan region in the 1990s, and the causes and consequences of the migration wave towards Europe after 2015 will be comprehensively evaluated; and policy recommendations regarding current refugee and integration problems will be developed. Ultimately, a first draft of a "Framework for Current Migration Policies" will be prepared with the participants; focusing on fundamental freedoms such as the right of return, the right to shelter, the right to a safe life, and the protection of identity-based rights.
