About Event

Defined as the study of women and society, Jineology has become a unique academic field in the last decade, developing through intense discussions and research in different parts of the world. One of the most fundamental concepts at the heart of this field is social freedom. Discussing the knowledge and structures arising from women's historical and social experiences in the construction of freedom, and revealing the role of knowledge and science in establishing a free life from a historical sociology perspective, is of great importance.

While existing social sciences mostly address freedom and peace within a liberal and positivist framework, Jineology places the conflict between women and men and the tension between the state and the community at the center of its search for solutions. In this workshop, led by Ezgi Çelik and Ayşegül Ayaz, we will discuss how lasting social peace and freedom can be achieved through a new libertarian scientific framework; and how this can be addressed from a sociological perspective on women's history. Throughout the workshop, concrete policy recommendations for local governments, academic institutions, and civil society organizations will be developed with the active contributions of the participants.
