Children's Peace Wall

Children's Peace Wall
Workshops

About Event

This workshop, conducted by the Children's Studies Association, is designed as a participatory activity in which children discuss the concepts of peace, coexistence, justice, and security based on their own intellectual and emotional worlds, transform this discussion into individual and collective artistic production, and make the resulting shared idea visible in the public sphere. The project approaches children as active subjects who have the right to speak about the city they live in, and aims for the resulting mural to become a permanent trace in Diyarbakır's urban memory, reflecting children's vision of peace. This work aligns perfectly with the Foundation's vision of participation, equality, and a culture of peace, with its objectives of: opening up a space for children to question and express the concept of peace; moving child participation beyond a symbolic level and into decision-making processes; transcending the one-way service understanding in the local government-child relationship; and making the discourse on peace visible in the public sphere, moving it beyond abstract discussions. During the workshop process, philosophy sessions will be held with three separate groups, individual paintings reflecting children's perception of peace will emerge, a single collective composition created by the children's common decision will be brought to life, this composition will be transformed into a permanent "Peace Wall" implemented in the public space, and the entire process will be documented through visual and narrative documentation to be presented at the forum.

Language: The work will be conducted in Turkish, accompanied by facilitators in Kurdish (Kurmanji and Zazaki).
Participation: This workshop is open to children only. Age groups will be determined later.
