This session is organised by Dr. H. Selen Akçalı on behalf of the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), within the framework of the Ortaklaşa: Culture, Dialogue and Support Programme, implemented with the support of the European Union.
Ortaklaşa aims to establish sustainable communication channels between municipalities and NGOs, strengthen cultural policies through a rights-based and inclusive approach, and foster local collaboration via participatory governance mechanisms. Within this framework, the session seeks to contribute to the creation of a lasting foundation for dialogue and cooperation between local authorities and civil society organisations working in the field of culture and arts.
Throughout the session, concrete examples will be shared illustrating how Ortaklaşa supports municipal-NGO partnerships, how participatory processes can be designed at the local level, and how culture can contribute to the construction of a peaceful society. The goal is to create an environment for discussion based on mutual learning, encouraging participants to reflect together drawing from their own experiences.
The session aims to:
- Enrich an understanding of fair and inclusive collaboration through experience sharing, drawing on Ortaklaşa's experiences in strengthening cooperation between municipalities and culture and arts-focused NGOs, as well as the gains obtained from dialogues conducted with various actors;
- Make visible, through concrete examples, the situations that hinder collaboration as well as the approaches that facilitate it;
- Contribute to participants developing inspiring ideas and actionable steps for collaboration in their own local contexts, in alignment with the Forum's principles of participation, pluralism and critical dialogue.

Participation: Open to all, though specifically designed for the participation of managers and teams from relevant units of municipalities and culture and arts-focused NGOs.
