Peace Journalism
Workshops

About Event

This workshop, conducted by the Dicle Fırat Journalists' Association and the Mesopotamian Women Journalists' Association, aims to foster collective reflection on the language of war and discriminatory discourses commonly used in the media, and to discuss a journalistic approach that strengthens peace as an alternative to such language. It proceeds from the recognition that the media is a significant domain shaping social perceptions and the culture of living together.

Peace journalism aims to construct a rights-based and inclusive narrative that makes different voices visible, rather than conveying conflicts through a polarizing language. In the workshop, while the effects of the current language are examined through media examples, how a more careful and responsible language can be established will be evaluated collectively.

Although the workshop is primarily intended for journalists and communication faculty students, it is open to anyone interested in this field. It aligns with the forum's fundamental approach, based on the idea that transforming the language used in the media is a crucial step towards strengthening societal peace.
