About Event

This workshop, led by artist Bestami Eği, is designed as a collaborative production space that invites participants to rethink and transform found and waste fabrics through the possibilities of art. Fabrics that have reached the end of their useful life or have been discarded will gain new meanings and artistic forms in this workshop. The aim is not merely to produce an object, but to think about, question, and share the production process together. Participants will have a creative experience, using both their manual skills and imagination while engaging with the materials.

The workshop aims to draw attention to the invisible destruction caused by fast fashion and textile production, and to make visible the manifestations of violence against nature in our daily lives. At the same time, it invites collective reflection on the crimes committed against nature and all living beings within it. It seeks to foster a shared understanding that making peace with nature is one of the first and most crucial steps on the path to social peace and freedom.

The workshop also questions the notion of consumption often presented as a liberating act. Against this cycle of consumption, which constantly generates new needs and directs individuals through a sense of lack, it proposes an alternative form of relationship based on "transforming" rather than "buying." Participants transform into subjects who do not consume the ready-made, but who transform and reconstruct.

Individuals from different social, cultural, and age groups producing together around the same waste materials enables solidarity instead of competition, and sharing instead of consumption. This state of collective production treats peace not just as a concept to be discussed, but as a practice to be experienced while producing and sharing together, aligning with the forum's goal of socializing peace.
